In the world of medicine there are two very similar terms that have significant distinctions if you dig deeper. But what is the difference between EMR and EHR? The answer is hidden in the abbreviation: EMR medical abbreviation is an electronic medical record and EHR is an electronic health record, they have one word that determines the capabilities of the system. The word “medicine” is a broad term because it’s associated with patient diagnosis and clinical data but the word “health” refers to a much larger range of data and indicators.

First of all, these two systems were created to increase the productivity of medical practice and provide the necessary data in a convenient and accessible form. They had to replace the paper medical cards and successfully coped with it. EMR systems are often confused with EHR, probably because the former is used more often in speech.

In fact, EHR is a much more perfect record than EMR which is a digital version of a chart with patient information. EMR main functions are in data tracking, verification of patient compliance with certain parameters, monitoring of service quality, etc. But it has a serious drawback: it’s impossible to forward EMR, it can be printed and mailed but there is not much difference with obsolete paper records in this case.

On the other hand, EHR is an improved form of storing, updating and issuing information. It can be sent to another medical facility and is accessible to all medical personnel involved in the treatment of the patient. EHR contains much more data that is associated with a variety of health indications, such as allergy, previous treatment, indicators of patient's state of health changes during treatment, etc. Besides, any patient can go into his personal profile and become familiar with the course of his treatment; this also helps the patient to comply with the regimen and medication prescribed by the doctor.

The functioning of such an important and data-rich system requires a solid foundation. Python for healthcare system is one of the best programming language to use. Its code has a convenient and simple structure which makes it a productive platform for systems that need good speed of operations. Keeping and constantly updating data is the process in which one small error can become fatal. Therefore, the choice of fundamental parameters should be approached very carefully. Python solutions for healthcare ensure the reliability and productivity of the entire system as a whole. A serviceable operation will be provided to both EMR and EHR.
