In the world of medicine there are two very similar terms that have significant distinctions if you dig deeper. But what is the difference between EMR and EHR? The answer is hidden in the abbreviation: EMR medical abbreviation is an electronic medical record and EHR is an electronic health record, they have one word that determines the capabilities of the system. The word “medicine” is a broad term because it’s associated with patient diagnosis and clinical data but the word “health” refers to a much larger range of data and indicators.

EHR contains much more data that is associated with a variety of health indications, such as allergy, previous treatment, indicators of patient's state of health changes during treatment, etc. Besides, any patient can go into his personal profile and become familiar with the course of his treatment; this also helps the patient to comply with the regimen and medication prescribed by the doctor.
