Hello, everyone.
Roll’n’Code blog team here, and we are recently returned from exciting and incredible business trip from Poland. This time, we visit Tricity and their technoparks. How it was, what we see, and our impressions we describe below :)

At first, about Tricity. Tricity or Tri-City is a metropolitan area in Poland consisting of three cities in Pomerania: Gdańsk, Gdynia, and Sopot, as well as minor towns nearby them. They are situated adjacent to one other, in a row on the coast of Gdańsk Bay, Baltic Sea, in Pomerelia (Pomeranian Voivodeship), northern Poland.

Let's take a look at technopark’s that we have visited:

Gdanski Park Naukowo-Technologiczny

Gdanski Park Naukowo-Technologiczny

Prof. Hilary Koprowski Gdansk Science and Technology Park - technology park created in 2006. GPN-T is a research center, located in the city center, cooperating with the local government of the Pomeranian Region, the City of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk University of Technology and the Medical University of Gdansk.

Technopark provides the best conditions to locate research laboratories. There are researches in such areas:

  • information and communication technologies
  • functional materials and nanotechnologies
  • environmental protection
  • biotechnology, food chemistry, and pharmaceutical sciences

Pomorski Park Naukowo-Technologiczny - in Gdynia was established in 2001 as an initiative of the association Pomeranian Technology Centre and the City of Gdynia.

The park was founded in order to support companies implementing innovative projects. It is the largest facility of its kind in Poland. PPNT covers an area of 6.1 hectares in Gdynia Redłowo.

PPNT is engaged in development and researches in such areas:

Engineering, Automatics & Robotics

The information and communication technologies module meets the needs of the constantly changing ICT services market. The dynamically developing ICT module clusters companies from the information and telecommunication technologies branches. PSTP entrepreneurs possess numerous successes in these fields and are known for their ingenuity and innovativeness - not only in Poland but also overseas.

Biotechnology - for many a synonym of innovation. The area of knowledge applying biological processes on an industrial scale is developing within PSTP in a symbiosis with ICT companies, industrial design studios, and many others. Some of the Gdynia biotechnology companies have been conducting their activity for several years now - their solutions are being implemented in science and industry in and outside of Poland. Have a look in your local pharmacy!

The industrial design sector in PSTP is represented by renowned designers, frequently awarded for their unique creations. PSTP encourages and inspires entrepreneurs with artistic souls, who know very well how to successfully create innovative designs and implement them on the market.

Environmental protection

One of the key fields of PSTP's activity is supporting enterprises dealing with environmental protection. The extensive scope of their activity reflects the subject's vast and interdisciplinary character, encompassing varied nature and sociologic sciences, as well as environmental engineering and economics.

The multimedia module corresponds to the leading theme of the XXIst century - an era of knowledge & information and their transfer in the form of written word, sound, image... Companies conducting activity in this branch are the foundation of modern information societies.
